Current and On-Going Projects
The Mt. Angel Community Foundation is committed to funding and development of these enduring projects that serve, enhance and enrich the greater Mt. Angel community.
Community Building
Our latest project is to construct a new Community Building to serve the expanding needs of Mt. Angel and its surrounding area. The new building will replace the existing metal "barn" structure built around 1972, which lacks many design features needed for its current and planned uses by the community, and which has sustained significant damage over the years, making it unfeasible and uneconomical to repair.
College Scholarships
Our flagship project - the Foundation's endowed Scholarship Fund has been helping the graduating seniors of Mt. Angel's John F. Kennedy High School achieve their higher education goals since 1997. Currently the program provides five competitive scholarships each year that are renewable for four years. In addition to academic criteria, the awards consider citizenship, community service and involvement in local community and leadership activities.
Mt. Angel Public Library
The Foundation's Library Building Fund raised the monies to furnish and equip the City’s new Mount Angel Public Library. Exceeding its goal, the Fund now assists The Friends of Mount Angel Library with annual donations to improve the Library’s collections, computer resources and facility.
Mt. Angel Glockenspiel
The Foundation helped raise funds for the creation of Mt. Angel's Glockenspiel, a picturesque focal point for our village. Funds now are used to maintain this unique feature.
Community Flower Baskets
The Foundation’s Flower Basket Fund was created through a significant anonymous donation. Earnings from this fund are distributed to the Chamber of Commerce to support its annual flower basket program that beautifies our downtown area.
